Annual and seasonal consumption statistics.

Annual:

• Canadians consumed 145.5 million kg (Mkg) of turkey in the year 2010.
• Per Capita turkey consumption in 2010 was 4.3 kg.
• An estimated 80.9 Mkg of turkey and turkey products were purchased at retail by Canadians in 2010.
• Of that 80.9 Mkg, 62.9 Mkg of whole turkeys were purchased.
• In 2010, Canadian households consumed a total of 10.2 million whole turkeys.
• Annual sales of turkey parts and processed turkey products increased from 10.0 Mkg in 1993, to 17.9 Mkg in 2010.

Thanksgiving:

• At Thanksgiving 2010, 3.1 million whole turkeys were purchased by Canadians, equal to 30% of all whole turkeys that were sold over the year.
• 38% of all Canadian households (5 million) purchased turkey and turkey products for Thanksgiving 2010.

Christmas:

• At Christmas 2010, 4.7 million whole turkeys were purchased by Canadians, equal to 46 % of all whole turkeys that were sold over the year.
• 46% of Canadian households (5.7 million) purchased turkey and turkey products for Christmas 2010.
