Organic Turkey

Organic food is produced according to a set of agricultural production practices described in the Canadian Organic Standards and/or in several provincial organic standards. There are a number of different certification bodies who can certify that organic farmers meet the respective organic standards to ensure compliance with the required production practices.

New Organic Products Regulations, which came into effect in June 2009, will require mandatory certification to the National Organic Standard for agricultural products represented as organic in import, export and inter-provincial trade, or that bear the federal organic agricultural product legend (or logo). The Canadian Food Inspection Agency is responsible for enforcing the Regulations.
