In saucepan, heat oil over medium heat and cook onion, garlic, oregano, basil, pepper and hot pepper flakes for 2 minutes or until softened.
Add tomatoes, salt and sugar. Using potato masher, crush tomatoes. Bring to the boil and add meatballs. Cover and reduce heat to simmer for about 15 minutes or until thickened.
Be sure to taste the sauce closer to the end of cooking and season it further to your taste.
