Giving Canadians a reason to be thankful this Thanksgiving
Turkey Farmers of Canada partnered with Food Banks Canada to lead a second annual 10-day social media campaign with the purpose of spreading the word about hunger. By sharing and re-tweeting #TurkeyFarmersCare on Twitter and Facebook from September 26th to October 10th, you helped us raise an additional $3,000 to feed rural communities across the country. This money was added to our initial $50,000 donation. Our members at British Columbia Turkey Marketing Board, Manitoba Turkey Producers, Alberta Turkey Producers and Turkey Farmers of New Brunswick also made contributions; and, with all combined the 2016 contribution was $60,500.
Through these collaborative efforts, even more Canadians had a chance to enjoy a nutritious traditional meal this Thanksgiving. “We are so pleased to see how Canadians have embraced the Turkey Farmers Care campaign. The additional funds raised through this campaign made a greater difference in helping all Canadians have a Happy Thanksgiving.” Pam Joliffe, Executive Director, Food Banks Canada.
On behalf of all the Canadian turkey farmers, we are honoured to thank the thousands of people who spread the #TurkeyFarmersCare hashtag and participated in our campaign to make this a happier holiday season. Together, we made a difference in our communities.
