At this time of year, many, but not all of us, are thinking about the holiday season and the delicious turkey meal we’ll enjoy with family and friends. Unfortunately, many residents of Canada aren’t able to look forward to such a gathering.
We would like to challenge Canadians everywhere to participate in our Buy One Give One campaign. In order to help as many families as possible to continue to enjoy their family traditions even during difficult times, when buying your own family’s turkey, purchase a second one to give to your local food bank.
“Our wish is that Canadians across the country will BOGO for the holidays – that is buy one turkey for their family and also a second to give to their local food bank to help others in their community,” said TFC Chair, Mark Davies.
Almost 850,000 Canadians – including families, seniors and students – turn to food banks in an average month and of these, over 36% are children. Rural food banks make up nearly half of the food banks in the country. BOGO by finding your local food bank through the Food Banks Canada website. Follow and join the conversation online using #BOGOTurkey.
